Geomorph - The Terragen of Linux?

Program's icon
Everybody loves Terragen. Be it Classic or Terragen 2, this program is probably the best out there when it comes to procedural terrain generation. In gaming it's used to generate skyboxes, in the industry it's used to quickly generate whole planets, seen from space and up close.
Geomorph is not that. But when combined with Blender, it comes pretty darn close to Terragen Classic.

Specification:

Price:Free
My rating:4.2/5
Supports:Linux, Blender, POV-Ray

Geomorph was originally designed to aid terrain generation in POV-Ray, but in turn POV-Ray didn't quite catch on, and what's left is a pretty good height field generator. Currently it can generate only three kinds of terrain, but I do hope that the authors will finally implement libnoise and add much more possibilities to the program.
And frankly, lack of diverse algorithms is the only downside to this piece of software.
Blender usage:
Geomorph → Blender ( Sufficiently subdivided mesh, into Displace modifier ).
